Day 29 - AEDM & Nablopomo - Wolf

Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things,
man himself will not find peace.
--- Albert Schweitzer

Today, a topic close to my heart - WOLVES!

Ever since I can remember, I've felt a strong love and connection
to the wolf.  I have long viewed them as my totem animal.
Once protected,
wolves have now been taken off the endangered list
which means they can be persecuted, hunted, and killed.
This is SO mortifying to me.

It pains me no end to see humans think that they can go ahead
and destroy or kill whatever gets in their way.
Man is the real blight upsetting the natural balance of this planet,
NOT the beautiful creatures we share this planet with.
So many animals are exploited, tortured, or killed at human hands
and it sickens me to the core.
I have been feeling quite down today with numerous things on my mind,
including the plight of the wolves.

As a tribute, I chose a wolf as my daily sketch.

  3. Fantastic drawing, full of compassion and what you felt at that particular moment. It is very true drawing. You put very important message in your journal today. We have to protect nature, we have to speak for those who cannot speak in human voice, we have to be aware that they do need our help to survive.

  5. This is a great post, Mum!

I love your wolf sketch, and yes, it is sad that wolves have been taken off the endangered list for protection. I feel sad for all animals that get killed by people who don't care.

    Love Brad!

  6. As they say, money is the root of all evil and greed makes people do the most inhumane things. Your wolf drawing is lovely. Have a great day. Tammy

  7. Well done. We have a weekend Art festival here every summer and one Gal who shows in it paints mostly Wolves. I wish I could remember her name but she has a Daughter that works with Wolves in Northern CA. We were discussing this very thing this summer. Very sad indeed.

I think most of the problems in our world today spring from the fact that too many people have no respect nor reverence for each other or for the natural world around them. It does hurt the soul. But there is something we can do about it: we can be a force for good every day of our lives. "Be the change you want to see in the world." :)

  11. some people want to bring wolves back here since they were hunted too extinction, but there are so many people against it, thinking they are viscous killers that will start killing everything :/ its very sad. beavers were re-introduced here and now people are getting angry that the beavers are doing what beavers do, and doing it well. there is more to it, but some of it is that the escaped from their enclosures so one of the big issues that people are having with the beavers, is that people are not controlling them anymore. people want to control nature too much
