elephants, UK circus news and a dog

I've heard a lot of animal abuse stories lately which have weighed heavily on my heart.  It's nice to see a story like this with a happy ending....although it did take 20 years.  Here is the direct link in case the video doesn't work - Reunion after 20 years.

And more good news from the UK.
They have banned the use of wild animals in circuses.
Ministers cave to demands
Well done to the UK!
I can only hope that Australia follows suit.

Cody thinks that, if all animals were treated like him, the world would be a happy place indeed.  Here he is in one of him most favourite spots in the world.....my pillow.

I've had a few ups and downs with back pain and migraines the past few days so nothing to show art-wise.

Stay tuned ~

  1. It's a shame so many animals aren't treated as well as Cody. ;)

Hope you're feeling better today soon! *Hugs*

  3. Cody looks so cute on your pillow. I think he might be just a teeny bit spoiled! Just like our kitties.

Big hugs to you and lots of healing thoughts.

  4. I wonder if my cats are treated as well as your dog. Once they are on lap we never want to disturb them and have to wait until they get up of their own accord!!

  5. that is a great thing that wild animals have been banned in circuses.
and i love seeing rotties and other dogs that usually had their tails docked, with long tails :D illegal to dock tails in scotland :)

  6. I agree, Tori...I wish all animals were loved as much as I love Cody. My heart breaks for the mistreated animals.

Thanks, Sandy, and yes, it was circuses. I think it's a great thing too. For many years, I have refused to go near a circus...my silent protest of their use of wild animals.

Yes, Janet....just a wee bit spoiled. lol

Lisa, I'm the same with my dogs when it comes to not disturbing them. I try to wait for them to move first. lol

Jennifer, I totally agree! I hope they follow suit re. circuses and wild animals DownUnder. Tail docking has been banned in Australia for many years. One breeder was charged a few years back for continuing to dock puppies tails. I mean, seriously, WHY does a poor dog need to have it's tail cut off??!! It's ludicrous if you ask me.

  8. Animals are so important and they should have their rights upheld.
Circuses can be just as entertaining without animals:)

Good for you for being so concerned.

  9. Thanks, Cat ~ :)

Thanks, Gwen. I too think circuses can be entertaining without the use of wild animals. I went to circus once when my kids were little and all I did was sit there feeling sorry for the lions and hating their trainer. I've never been to a circus since.

  10. I've seen this story a couple times before and it always brings me to tears. I'm glad the law was passed in the UK!

Your Cody and my Karma live lives filled with peace and love, that's for sure. :)

I hope you are feeling better by now. I am behind on blogs. Working on a letter. :)

  11. Circ de Soleil - only human performers, should be the rule everywhere.

    Cody is "Bliss" personified!

Hope you are feeling a whole lot better now - take it easy. Art can wait a long time.

  16. Hi Mum,

This is a great post! It's so sad that all this animal abuse goes on in the world, but it was nice seeing that video of the elephants being reunited!
